MINISTRIES

We would love to have you involved

  • Join us at 10:00 am in McLaren Hall! We are currently reading through A.M. Hodgkins’ classic work, “Christ in All of Scripture.”

  • Have little ones? Do not let that keep you away! Our trained and gifted Children’s ministry leaders are prepared to minister to them at their level! We offer a range of Bible-centered ministries for the little ones!

  • Just as the early church was tasked with taking the Gospel to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the utmost parts of the earth (Acts 1:8), we believe that taking the gospel starts first in our immediate vicinity and works its way outward. In obedience to this command, we do monthly outreach in Palm Beach County at local events and markets. If you would like to join us, we have a quarterly events calendar we will get to you!

  • At LPCC, we take The Great Commission seriously. Our philosophy of ministry is that missions work is first pastoral, not diaconal, so our focus is to train pastors in areas where formal training may be a luxury, and equip them for faithful ministry by providing the practical and theological resources they may not otherwise be able to obtain.

  • Coastal Middle and High School is a private school (voted best in Palm Beach County for two straight years!) which meets on the campus of Lake Park Community Church in our education wing, and has been doing so for the past 47 years. It is a one of a kind school, and we at LPCC are proud to partner with them!

MISSIONS

Christ has authorized the church, (eph. 1:22-23), and only the church, working in the power of the holy spirit, (micah 3:8; luke 4:14; rom. 15:19), for the gathering of the elect, (mark 13:27), the edification of the saints, (rom. 14:17-19), and the building up of his spiritual body (jude 1:20).

He qualifies the church for this great task by endowing her with spiritual gifts (1 cor. 14:12; eph. 4:8), and by the institution of the offices (1 tim. 3:1ff; eph. 4:11-12), for the administration of the word (2 tim. 4:2; rom. 10:8) and the sacraments, (psa. 99:7; 1 cor. 11:2,20; luke 22:17ff; matt. 3:16; acts 2:38; 1 cor. 1:13), which are used to lead the elect to their eternal destiny. As such, the agent through which the work of christ is accomplished on the earth is the church.

The question must be asked: do para-church ministries do the work of the church? Yes and no. In the positive, para-church ministries engage in church activities, often serving as an extension of the church under church guidance. In the negative, they operate as independent, autonomous agencies, unaccountable to the church, but rather attempting to function on par with the church without either the authority or accountability.

My philosophy is that those called to the mission field ought to meet the same qualifications as those called to minister at home, and that the work of the field is essentially the same at home. We cannot have separate qualifications, for this implies a separate function of the same ecclesial expression. Granted, the challenge of re-orienting ecclesial ministry outside one’s familiar context is an added element and essential component of missions, “contextualization” (shaping the message to fit a culture) should not take precedence over biblical fidelity. I am thoroughly convinced a missionary is first and foremost a pastor; all other activity associated with foreign missions is subordinate to this.

Places Where We Go

Bolivia

Pastor David along with Pastor Jose Portillo of Vive Charlotte Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, founded the Reformed Presbyterian in Bolivia in 2018. Consisting of three churches, Pastor David has supplied the Pastors and Ruling Elders with the training, guidance, and theological resources to equip the churches for faithful ministry. In 2023, this denomination was recognized as a legal entity by the Bolivian government – the first Protestant denomination ever recognized.

Pastor David also maintains numerous pastoral relationships throughout the country, namely in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and Tarija, where he has been featured in numerous conferences.

Colombia

Pastor David feels strongly about theological education being formative in church leaders. As such, he is a Lecturer of Covenant Theology at the Latin American Reformed Seminary in Medellin, Colombia.

Guatemala

Mike and Terri McComb have been lifelong friends of pastor David, introducing him to the mission field many moons ago. They’ve been faithfully serving in the Guatemalan highlands since the early 1990’s, having raised four children in the field. The McCombs serve on the board of ASELSI Bible School where they develop the curriculum as well as assist with the oversight of a medical clinic.
